At WCS, we recently rebranded ourselves and executed our branding shoot. So trust us, we know how overwhelming it can be, BUT you've found the right checklist! In 2024, your brand is arguably your most important asset.
A strong and consistent brand:

Defines your values
Attracts new opportunities
And so much more, get in touch if you want to chat further on the importance of branding in 2024.
We have put together our top tips to master your brand shoot:
FIND YOUR WHY
The first step is to find your WHY.
Define your objectives and ask yourself, "Why are we doing this?" For us, our rebrand marked a new era for WCS. With significant changes like our Founder's new role as a mum, a doubled team, and expanded offerings, we had our WHY. Your WHY doesn’t have to be a complete rebrand. It could be launching a new product line, refreshing your image, or enhancing your social media presence.
FIND THE MOOD
This is a fun one! Open Pinterest, and start pinning!
Create a board that embodies the 'vibe' you want to showcase: colours, backdrops, locations, outfits, poses, and lighting. This mood board will set the tone for your shoot and will be referenced multiple times.
FIND YOUR PEOPLE
Choosing the right team is crucial. Surround yourself with a talented team who embody your values and can bring your vision to life. If you’re stuck, ask around and explore who aligns with your style and vision. (That’s where we come in!)
FIND YOUR LOCATION
Your shoot backdrop sets the tone for your brand's narrative. Your shoot backdrop sets the tone for your brand's narrative. Consider a studio setting, outdoor scenery, or unique urban environment. Ensure factors like lighting, accessibility, and permits are in place for a seamless shoot.
PREPARE YOUR SHOT LIST & BRIEF
Time is of the essence during your shoot, so plan in detail. Your brief should include:
Travel time to your shoot location
Hair & makeup application start and finish times
Allocate time for outfit changes and area set-ups
Lunch/snack breaks
A detailed shot list
Having a clear roadmap will streamline the process and maximise efficiency on set. Need guidance? Reach out!
PREPARE YOUR WARDROBE, PROPS & SNACKS
Plan your outfits, props, and other necessities at least a few days before the shoot.
The often-forgotten must-have list includes:
Lint roller
Props if required (e.g., magazines, candles, etc.)
Bobby pins & hair ties
Safety pins
Bluetack
Clothing rail, hangers & Steamer
Branded elements/collateral
Water and snacks
A well-fed and hydrated team is a productive team. Plan refreshments based on the shoot’s schedule.
STAY ALERT & ATTENTIVE
Stay on track and on time during shoots. Refer to your mood board, brief, and shot list, ticking things off as you go. Capture behind-the-scenes content for social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to showcase your brand’s authentic side.
HAVE FUN!
This is a no-brainer, but often overlooked when it comes to 'work'.
If you're stressed, distracted, or not having fun, it will come across in your photos, especially if you are the one in front of the camera.
